Tim Cao is a 2019 RHP with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Oak Ridge, NC who attends Northwest Guilford HS. Medium athletic build, plenty of room to get stronger. Big backside gather in his delivery with good lower half use and drive, hides the ball effectively in back, high 3/4's arm slot, medium effort at release, has a quick arm. Fastball topped out at 91 mph, mostly straight with good plane and the ability to throw to spots. Throws both a curveball and slider, curveball is the better pitch with tight 12/6 shape and bite, some developing feel for his change up. Mixes effectively and has an idea how to pitch. 6.78 runner with athletic actions on the mound. Good student, verbal commitment to North Carolina State.
