Kevin Crews is a 2020 C/1B with a 6-1 210 lb. frame from Naples, FL who attends St. John Neumann. Large frame with broad shoulders and beginnings of strength. Primary catcher with a taller, side set stance while receiving the baseball. Gains ground to the bag while working out of crouched with clean footwork. Efficient exchanges across chest with a quick glove circle. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot producing accurate carry to the bag at 76 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 2.06. Also worked out defensively from first base showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while centering the baseball. Deeper two handed funnel and worked through transfer quickly. Created accurate on line carry across the infield topping at 75 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance and toe tap trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Loose, extended path to contact with a level, line drive barrel plane through extension. Looks to throw barrel head and create contact out front. Produced hard, sharp contact to the pull side gap when on time and squared. Very good student as well.
