Shawn Cali is a 2023 OF/RHP, SS with a 5-9 145 lb. frame from East Taunton, MA who attends Taunton. Young, square shouldered frame with a lean and projectable build, has room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.65 60-yard dash. Primary outfielder, comes to the ball well and works through it, quick transfer into a long arm action, active footwork through release with short stride, works to a higher release point, repeats mechanics and will continue to refine them. Also pitched, side step moving into a compact leg lift, hip tuck at top of delivery while working with a long arm action through the back to a three-quarters release point. Works on top of fastball well and filled the zone, topped out at 75 mph and jumped on hitters playing off of the knuckleball. Located knuckleball well with tumbling life, able to miss bats, curveball showed 11-5 shape with short depth; consistently mixed and filled zone. Switch-hitter, more refined from the left side at present; begins with an even stance and does a nice job of staying short to the ball. Linear plane with looseness through the zone, can turn on the ball and work to pull side. Similar linear path from right side, upper body dominant swing with developing bat speed, short path to the ball.
