Heath Owen is a 2022 C/RHP/MIF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Pope. Medium athletic build with some present strength and plenty more to come in the future. Right handed hitter, hits from a balanced stance with a simple shift into contact and good load/trigger, has strength in his hands and does a good job of driving them into contact, looks to get extended out front, line drive swing plane with some gap to gap power. Sets up low and relaxed behind the plate, has good foot quickness and balance in his actions, quick exchange from glove to hand, solid overall catching actions. Also plays third base good athletic actions and enough arm strength. Took a turn on the mound, short and compact catcher's arm action from an over the top slot, easy low effort delivery that produce a ton of strikes. Fastball topped out at 82 mph with good arm side running life. Change up was a nice pitch for him, tunneled well with nice life to it. Excellent student. Named to the Fall Atlantic Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
