Leo Konopka is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from North Haven, CT who attends North Haven High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Ran a 7.44 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher, begins delivery with a big side step moving it, leg lift slightly up past belt with sound balance to delivery. Full arm action through the back working to a three-quarters slot, ball comes out clean and easy with angle when working to glove side. Topped out at 79 mph with fastball, able to generate short cut and shows sink to it when down in the zone to the glove side. Works off the fastball and able to induce ground ball contact, works ahead in the count and mixed in occasional off speed. Curveball showed 11-5 shape while the slider had more sweep to the finish at 71 mph, short fading life to the arm side on changeup at 66 mph. Similar full arm action from the outfield, fields out front with two hands, gets on top of throws and shows accuracy to the bag. Righthanded hitter, begins with a narrow stance and loads hands back at start of swing. Shows intent to swing with a high finish through the ball, pull side approach and occasionally gets around the ball, contact approach in the box, shows quickness to hands with bat speed coming through the zone. Very good student.
