Ryan Walden is a 2018 C/OF with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Edmond, OK who attends Edmond Santa Fe HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 7.22 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a narrow, slightly taller stance while receiving. Gains some ground while working out of crouched with clean footwork. Loose, low exchanges with a fluid glove circle at separation. Released from a compact three-quarters slot producing accurate carry to the bag, topped at 71 miles per hour. Best workout pop time of 2.10. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Funnels out front and worked through baseball well during exchange. Released from a compact three-quarters slot generating uphill carry to the bag at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and high back elbow set. Hands load to a deep position while lower half works to baseball with rotational actions. Loose hand path to contact and swung with intent on a line drive plane through extension. Flashed solid bat speed through the zone and showed the barrel control to work to all fields. Created best contact of the barrel when creating separation at contact and working to the opposite field gap. Excellent student as well.
