Joseph Romero is a 2019 2B/OF with a 5-10 120 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Scripps Ranch HS. Medium frame with a compact, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Right handed hitter with a open stance, high back elbow set and toe tap trigger. Compact path to contact with a line drive swing plane. Gets barrel out to baseball early with a mid-field to opposite field approach. Handles the barrel well throughout the zone, consistently squaring up contact. Repeatable swing mechanics that will continue to develop with physical maturity. Worked out defensively from the infield showing fundamental footwork while surrounding the baseball. Solid glove actions out front while funneling baseball. Shows some range to both side with clean, athletic actions. Throws across the infield from a low three-quarters arm slot that produces some carry with accuracy to the bag. Good student as well.
