Carter Gronnerud is a 2018 1B/OF with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Coto De Caza, CA who attends Tesoro HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional size and strength. Ran a 7.76 sixty yard dash. Primary first baseman, moves well with solid range to both side. Fundamental footwork while surrounding the baseball on the ground and setting up to receive throws at the bag. Smooth glove actions while funneling the baseball with a slightly taller body position. Left handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance. Lower half shifts into contact with linear actions. Compact, direct path to contact with a naturally lifted plane through extension. Flashed solid bat speed with good raw power at contact. Baseball jumped of barrel with good carry to the outfield gaps when squared. Barrel tends to be in and out of hitting zone quickly when working to finish. Tools will continue to develop with mechanical refinement and physical maturity. Very good student as well.
