Zachary Devito is a 2017 OF/LHP with a 5-11 185 lb. frame from Palmyra, NY who attends Newark Senior High School. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength throughout frame. Primary outfielder, does a nice job of getting behind the ball, fields the ball close to body, full arm action coming through the back working to a higher release point, gets on top of throws well and shows accuracy with arm strength that will continue to develop with additional lower half. Also pitched, small side step moving into delivery with a small hip turn at top, similar arm action as in outfield with a high three-quarters release point. Remains tall on backside, easy release and fastball comes out cleanly, topped out at 76 mph with short running life and downhill plane to either side of the plate. Can get in on lefthanded hitters, shows some depth to curveball when on top at 72 mph with 1-7 shape. Lefthanded hitter, has some moving parts pre-swing with a leg lift coil load but comes out well and incorporates lower half nicely. Incorporates physical strength and looks to power the ball to pull side, has present bat speed, line drive swing plane with ability to lift the ball and shows jump off barrel when squared. Very good student.
