Ricardo Diaz is a 2017 C/2B with a 5-5 165 lb. frame from Reading, PA who attends Reading HS. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects for additional strength. Primary catcher with two handed actions while receiving the baseball and works through transfer quickly. Gains some ground while working out of crouch and releases with a compact arm action. Stayed balanced throughout with fundamental footwork. Created some carry to the bag with accuracy, best workout pop time of 2.12. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing deliberate footwork while centering the baseball. Clean, smooth paced funneling glove actions out front and works through exchanges well. Generated softer carry across the infield with accuracy to the bag. Right handed hitter with a narrow, slightly closed stance and simple front side trigger. Torso shows rotational actions to contact and generated a compact, linear swing plane through extension. Primarily worked from the middle of the field to the pull side gap flashing occasional jump off the barrel when on time and squared. Outstanding student.
