Colbie Vargas is a 2018 SS/2B with a 5-4 135 lb. frame from Oceanside, CA who attends Carlsbad HS. Vargas has a smaller frame with a lean build. Defensively he showed good infield actions with nice footwork. Vargas has soft hands with clean transfers and release. He has developing arm strength up to 69 MPH. He showed athleticism on the slow roller and showed solid 2B tools. At the plate Vargas starts with an open stance with a narrow base. He uses a high back elbow with a high hand set and uses a big leg kick trigger to start his swing. Vargas gets his foot down well and has some bat wrap at load. He showed solid barrel skills and looks to pull. Vargas showed good aggression on the basepaths and took the extra bases when he could. Good student.
