Sullivan Sage is a 2017 RHP/ with a 6-4 165 lb. frame from Elk Grove, CA who attends Pleasant Grove. Large frame, long lean and well-proportioned pitcher's build with high waist, has plenty of room to add strength and projects well. Worked exclusively out of the stretch, high leg lift delivery. Long limbs and with compact arm-action, hides ball well behind body, adds to deception throughout mechanics. Releases from a low 3/4's arm slot, fastball up to 76 mph. Fastball has armside run, natural life from the low slot, induces lots of groundballs when located down in the zone, does a good job of keeping it off of barrels. Shows some feel for curveball with short, sweeping action and 11/5 shape, flashed more depth and finish later in the offering, is an effective pitch to keep hitters off of the fastball. Also worked in changeup, still developing consistent feel and arm-action on the pitch. Held velocity well and mixes pitches, knows how to sequence and generate softer contact. Good student.
