Russell Hicks is a 2017 LHP/OF with a 6-3 188 lb. frame from Reno, NV who attends Galena HS. Profile pitcher's build, broad shoulders with some present and plenty of room for more. Tall and fall delivery with a long and loose arm action, can improve lower half drive to the plate, tends to spin over his front side, arm action is loose and easy coming through, 3/4's arm slot. Mid 80's fastball, topped out at 86 mph, commands 2-seamers better at lower velocities, tries to work to both sides of the plate with his fastball and wants to work inside half to hitters, short and late arm side life. Slurve type breaking ball, gets tighter spin at the higher velocities with shorter slider bite. Threw a change up in warm ups. Big key in development will be developing consistency in his mechanics and release point, arm and body projects well. Good student, signed with College of Southern Nevada.
