Michael Christian Herrera is a 2018 OF/RHP, 2B with a 6-0 190 lb. frame from Oxnard, CA who attends Rio Mesa High School. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.30 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with clean, athletic actions while closing to and working through the baseball. Maintains momentum while working to the bag and released from a three-quarters slot. Kept throws low creating on line carry to the bag, topped at 83 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing athletic footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels out front and flashed the ability to manipulate glove late. Showed good range to each side and worked through transfer with fluidity. Topped at 82 miles per hour across the infield. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and high back elbow set. Utilized a simple front side trigger and works to contact on a direct, compact path. Barrel came through the zone on a smooth, lifted plane. Stays very balanced throughout and consistently worked between the gaps generating hard, loud contact. Also pitched showing a simple rock step to high leg lift delivery. Stays balanced on back side with slight coil at gather. Works to the plate with drop and drive actions while landing at a slightly open position. Released from a three-quarters arm slot produced heavy life through the zone in the low 80's, topped at 82 miles per hour. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight spin and late depth. Matched arm speed with breaking ball and created deception to hitters when changing speeds. Consistently filled the strike zone and effectively missed barrels. Good student. Named to the 2017 NorCal Showcase Top Prospect List.
