Trent Walker is a 2018 C/IF with a 6-1 195 lb. frame from Niceville, FL who attends Niceville Senior. Large frame with a solid build and present strength throughout. Projects for additional size with strength. Ran a 7.56 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher, shows a slow set with good hip flexion while receiving. Gains ground the the bag with smooth paced, fundamental footwork. Quick, clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transfer. Releases from a compact, over top arm slide that produced solid carry to the bag with accuracy. Topped at 79 mph to the bag, best workout pop time of 1.96. Also worked out defensively form the infield showing smooth paced actions while working to and surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball with clean glove actions from a slightly deeper position. Creates good momentum through the baseball to the bag and releases from a three-quarters slot. Topped at 84 mph across the infield generating good on line carry to the bag. Right handed hitter with a spread, straight stance. Lower half launches with rotational actions producing some shift into contact. Hands launch on a direct, compact path to contact creating a line drive swing plane through extension. Flashed present bast speed and strength with a mid-field approach. Baseball jumps off the barrel when attacking baseball out front. Stays balanced throughout with the ability to repeats swing mechanics and plane. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
