Tim Griffin is a 6' 175 pound 2006 catcher, right handed pitcher, and outfielder from Jacksonville, Florida who attends Bartram Trail High School. He has a tall athletic body who is very lean throughout. Tim has a strong accurate arm with good online carry. He threw 87 mph from the outfield and 77 mph from behind the plate with a 1.96 pop time. He blocks well behind the plate with plus pop times. He has good footwork in the outfield and behind the plate and is a top defensive player at either position. Griffin is a switch hitter who has a nice approach from both sides of the plate. He has a nice swing with very quick hands and is very balanced. He has a little more power from the left side but can hit from both sides. Tim throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a very loose long arm. His fastball at 84 mph has some natural cut action to it. His best pitch is his late breaking slider at 73 mph. He has clean mechanics with not much effort involved. Tim is an excellent two-way prospect who will be a great addition to any college program.
