Carson Pillsbury is a 2020 C/RHP, 3B with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Inverness, FL who attends Seven Rivers Christian. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 6.91 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, loose actions behind the plate, receives the ball out front and funnels into a long and loose arm stroke, clean exchange, gets on top of throws and shows accuracy to the bag, gains ground with lower half, solid present arm strength on throws. Also pitched, big rock step with hand pump moving into a high leg lift, good balance to delivery while getting tall on backside. Full arm stroke through the back working to an extended three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 87 mph with short sinking life down in the zone with extension out front with some drop and drive to the plate. Worked quickly, showed comfort throwing changeup up to 82 mph with tumbling life, acted like a splitter and went to it with two strikes. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate with an open stance. Upper body dominant swing and can continue to implement additional lower half into swing, keeps hands inside the ball and shows a full path through the zone. Shows present strength off the barrel when squared with ability to work the gaps, projects moving forward with weight shift, generates backspin off the barrel. Very good student.
