Josh Voss is a 2018 OF/C with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Marietta, GA who attends Blessed Trinity Cath. Large frame with an athletic build and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional size and strength. Primary catcher with a low, balanced stance while receiving the baseball. Gains ground while working out of crouch with smooth paced footwork. Loose take back while working through transfer and released from a high energy three-quarters slot. Throws created softer, accurate carry to the bag. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing smooth paced, deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Released from a full arm action generating accurate carry to the bag topping at 78 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose, extended path to baseball with a line drive plane through extension. Flashed some bat speed when turning the barrel to contact and working to pull side. Showed developing feel for the barrel and should continue to develop with maturity. Very good student as well.
