Luke Cartenuto is a 2020 2B/RHP, IF, OF with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Cumming, GA who attends West Forsyth. Medium frame with a lean build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Primary second baseman with active footwork while ranging for and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front and working through back hand. Fluid transfers and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Throws created softer on line carry to the bag topping at 79 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance and high back elbow set. Slight hand coil at load and works to contact on a loose, extended path. Level, line drive barrel plane through extension and utilized a mid field approach. Consistently repeated swing and flashed the barrel control to work the other was as well. Also pitched a small rock step to leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and works to the plate with tall and fall actions. Compact arm circle at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball had some sinking action to the bottom of the zone with run to arm side, topped at 73 miles per hour. Slider showed loose spin with occasional sweep to glove side in the upper 60's. Tends to lower arm slot slightly with slider offering. Consistently worked to the bottom of the zone and induced ground ball contact. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition. Good student.
