Nick Demaio is a 2018 C/3B with a 6-0 225 lb. frame from Toms River, NJ who attends Donavan Catholic High School. Medium, broad shoulders frame with nice present strength proportioned throughout, physicality plays. Ran a 5.43 40-yard dash. Primary catcher, higher set behind the plate, shows a quick transfer to get the ball out of glove, taller at release, projects with additional lower half, accurate throws and shows carry out of the hand to intended base. Short steps moving towards the ball in fielder, fields the ball out front, looked more natural defensively in the infield, funnels into an over the top slot, nice arm strength over to first base. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open stance and a high hand set and back elbow in the box. Coils with leg lift and creates nice torque with shift into contact, generates solid bat speed through the zone. Ball comes off the barrel well when on time through the zone, generates some whip to barrel head and shows strength to pull side. Good student.
