Mason Collins is a 2020 RHP/C, 3B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Alabaster, AL who attends Cornerstone Christian School. Large and athletic frame with broadness to shoulders and some present strength throughout the build. Ran a 7.20 second 60-yard dash. Primary righthanded pitcher with a side step delivery into high leg lift above the belt. Slight coil at the gather with strong use of the lower half working down the mound while maintaining direction to the plate. Shorter arm action into a high three-quarters slot up top. Loose arm reaching extension out in front. Will create downhill angle with the fastball topping out at 85 MPH. Aggressive with pitches working off the fastball. Bigger break to the curveball staying around the zone and showing an 11-to-5 shape with developing feel for the zone. Also worked out as a secondary catcher. Receives out in front. Gains minimal ground to the bag with a high and tall release. Arm strength plays well behind the plate topping out at 80 MPH and popping a 1.95. Also worked out from the infield. Fields out front with some stiffness in hands. Long wind up to throws with extended transfers. Developing accuracy across showing carry out of the hand. Lefthanded hitter with an even stance and leg lift trigger for timing. Swings the bat with intent on a slightly elevated path. Can impact the ball when getting out and around and working contact to the pull side. Good student as well. Named to the 2019 National Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
