2016 West Coast Underclass Showcase
Kyle Giberson is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Irvine, CA who attends Woodbridge HS. Large frame with long limbs and a solid, athletic build. Ran a 7.82 sixty yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather while creating slight uphill shoulder tilt. Extended stride length while working to the plate, carries momentum well through finish while landing in line with the plate. Created a long arm circle back a separation and releases from a three-quarters slot. Repeated delivery and arm slot well throughout outing. Fastball had good life through the zone with solid downward angle and occasional arm side run in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tight rotation and sharp late depth down in the zone. Flashed a changeup with a deceptive arm action in the mid 70's as well. Changeup showed solid cutting action when working to glove side. Worked with good paced and aggressively attacking the strike zone with all three pitches. Commands the zone with the ability to consistently spot up to each edge of the plate. Right handed hitter with a balanced, slightly open stance and leg lift trigger. Shows good strength at contact with good jump off the barrel to the pull side gap when squared. Repeated swing mechanics well and consistently squared up contact when barrel matched pitch plane. Higher ceiling as a pitching prospect. Good student. Named to the 2016 West Coast Underclass Showcase Top Prospect List.
