Kendon Strachan is a 2016 RHP/IF, OF with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from West Hempsted, NY who attends Long Island Lutheran. Large frame with a very athletic build on the mound. Shows a mixed tempo delivery with a long stride length. Stays on line well with the lower half and shows a long, loose arm action through delivery. Fastball flashed cutting action topping at 77 mph with the ability to move to both edges of the plate. Changes speeds with a curveball that shows some depth at 58 mph. Worked out defensively from both the infield and outfield. From the infield shows a loose, smooth arm action with an extended release. Baseball comes out of hand clean topping at 80 mph across the infield. Shows range to both sides with developing glove actions while surrounding the baseball. From the outfield shows a similar smooth arm action. Fluid actions through transition with solid glove skills. Athletic actions while round and closing on baseball. Works over front side well while throwing creating accurate throws to the bag with on line carry. At the plate shows a open, balanced stance. Quiet, compact hands with loose wrist action. Primarily uses a gap to gap approach with the present bat speed and pop to reach the gaps. Lower half attack baseball well and barrel extends through the zone with a level, line drive swing plane. Body projects very well for future strength. Listed as a primary pitcher but graded better as position player for this event.
