Jakobe Smith is a 2017 C/1B with a 6-2 210 lb. frame from Birmingham, AL who attends Minor High School. Large build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.13 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary catcher, stayed down through receiving, longer stride into throw, and developing transfer skills. Raw arm strength up to 74 mph with a workout pop time of 2.07. At the plate, started with a very wide base, high hand set, and a leg lift timing mechanism. Inconsistent hand path at present with an up the middle and pull side approach. Developing bat speed and raw feel for the barrel. Will continue to improve with additional lower half incorporation and timing.
