Will Layton is a 2018 SS/OF, RHP with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Riverton, NJ who attends Camden Cath Cherry Hill. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Ran a 7.29 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front and funnels well into full arm action, shows a loose three-quarters release point with accuracy to throws, glove plays nicely, athleticism to actions. Also pitched, steady tempo throughout delivery before accelerating down the mound. Clean takeaway out of glove into fuller arm action with a high three-quarters release point. Generates short cut action on fastball when down in zone, topped out at 77 mph and showed nice spin to breaking ball at 67 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright and narrow base with a high hand set at the plate. Shows a weight shift through lower half, displays a feel for the barrel with a line drive stroke through the zone. Contact approach with slight lift at point of contact. Good acceleration out of box and moves well down the line. Good student.
