Ismael Romero is a 2018 2B with a 5-7 125 lb. frame from Calexico, CA who attends Southwest HS. Smaller frame with a lean build. Projects for additional strength. Right handed hitter with a slightly open, spread stance and high hand/back elbow set. Hands launch to contact on aloose, line drive path with occasional leverage through extension. Creates some bat speed due to good lower half shift into contact. Mid-field approach, but shows to barrel skills to hit to all fields. Conistently squared up contact. Projectable swing mechanics that will continue to develop with physical maturity. Worked out defensively from the infield showing clean glove actions while funneling the baseball out front. Creates good on line direction while working through the baseball. Releases from a low three-quarters arm slot that produces some carry with accuracy across the infield. Flashed athletic actions while ranging to each side and closing on slow roller. Good student as well.
