Tyler Montoya is a 2019 LHP/OF with a 5-10 196 lb. frame from North Las Vegas, NV who attends Arbor View. Medium frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Ran a 7.41 second 60-yard dash. Primary lefthanded pitcher with a side step delivery to start. Loads up on the backside with drop and drive actions down the mound. Short and compact through the backside. Hard cutting life on the fastball sitting in the upper 80's and topping out at 89 miles per hour. Slightly inconsistent of the release on the breaking ball with a slurvey 1-to-7 shape to it. When consistent on the release the curveball has some depth to it. Fastball creating some swing and miss as well as weak contact. Also worked out as a secondary outfielder. Short athletic steps to the ball. Fields out front with a quick exchange. Short arm stroke with plenty of quickness in release. Gets on top well keeping throws low and accurate to the bag at 89 miles per hour. Lefthanded hitter with quick hands to the ball. Explosive barrel through the zone on a line drive plane. Has some pop especially when working to the pull side.
