Alec Mendez is a 2018 LHP with a 5-8 165 lb. frame from Wellington, FL who attends Wellington. Mendez has a lean build with room to fill out and add strength to his frame. Simple side step rocker step to a medium leg lift, starts with a slow tempo then picks up tempo after balance point. Has loose arm with low 3/4 slot. Shows good arm speed through release point. Loads up backside well and gets a good drive down the line to the plate. Struggled a bit to repeat but tools and athleticism is there to develop on the mound. Delivery creates deception with fastball that shows good running action down and to the arm side. Flashed slider late in outing that showed 2/9 shape with good spin and bite. Good Student.
