Trey Holland is a 2017 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-11 195 lb. frame from Durham, NC who attends Trinity High School. Medium build and frame, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically and add strength. Posted a 7.59 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary left handed pitcher, started with a slow leg raise to the belt, side step start from the middle of the rubber, online landing, long arm action, and threw from a high three quarter arm slot. Lands on a stiff front leg with a leg wrap around body. Fastball showed good arm side life to the lower third of the zone with angle at 76-78/79 mph. Showed a 12/6 curveball slowing arm for the pitch with feel for spin and ability to throw it for strikes. Mixed speeds well and was most effective to the lower third. Secondary first basemen, fielded the ball clean, good footwork, accurate throws, and arm strength up to 78 mph. At the plate, started with an even stance, high hand set, and a quick leg lift timing mechanism. Created leverage through lower half with impact off the barrel. Worked all fields with a line drive swing plane. Inconsistent hand path and developing rhythm at the plate. Very good student.
