Carter Byrd is a 2016 C/1B with a 6-3 220 lb. frame from Birmingham, AL who attends Mt Brook. XL frame with excellent, impressive strength throughout his body. Well-propotioned frame, very strong physicality overall. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.53 seconds. Hits with high back elbow at set, drops hands into load but still in good position to fire into swing, semi-extended hand path but generates good bat speed, collapses a bit onto front side, flashes strength off the barrel from lofted swing. Rotational with pull-field approach, shows solid jump that will result in more leverage with better front side mechanics. Worked out defensively behind the plate. Solid receiving skills, stands up a bit out of crouch but still gains ground well, quality release with solid arm strength, velocity up to 74 MPH and pop time as low as 2.07 seconds. Very good student.
