Rian Haire is a 2016 LHP/OF with a 6-3 225 lb. frame from Hudson, NC who attends South Caldwell HS. Very athletic look, well proportioned and strong, doesn't look 225 pounds. Leg raise delivery with a high front side, slightly cross body on release, long and loose arm action, shows the ball on his backside, whippy arm going through the zone, lots of energy on release, 3/4's arm slot with very good extension out front. Fastball up to 91 mph, have seen up to 93 this summer, mostly straight with occasional late action. Soft and short slider with a late break, sometimes bites sharply. Works down in the zone well and tries to locate to both sides of the plate. Has the arm strength, developing his secondary pitches will be key to his future. Good student, verbal commitment to South Carolina.
