Matthew Thomson is a 2006 right handed pitcher from Santa Rosa, California with a good projectable pitchers body at 6'3", 185 pounds. He pitches from a low 3/4 slot with an even tempo and has a long arm action. He showed balance throughout the delivery and has a good finish with extension out front. He showed lots of life on his 87 mph fastball. He gets a tight spin on his 69 mph curveball. He should end up throwing a slider from that low 3/4 angle. He did not show a change. He has great command of both pitches, and he moves the ball in and out with pin point accuracy. He has a good pitchability and he keeps the hitters off balance. He hits from an open stance with bat speed. He made solid contact and showed good gap to gap ability, but his future is on the hill. He is a power pitcher with major league size and will be a very high level prospect with good draft potential in 2006. Matthew is a top level student.
