Willard is an "04" switch hitting middle infielder with serious tools. At 5'11/165 he looks good now and will get bigger down the road. He runs very well with athletic ease. His arm projects to be MLB above average. He has great instincts and quick feet to go along with his good arm. He has nice shortstop actions and a feel for the game. At the plate he is impressive, but does collapse on the back side at times. He has a nice swing with good bat speed. He stays inside and uses the field with present day wood bat gap power. He could end up being as good with the bat as he is on defense. And he hits from both sides adding to his value. Matt is an excellent student with a 1310 SAT.
