Meinzer is a very tall Right-hander who projects extremely well on the mound. His 6 foot 5 frame is long and thin and the way his mechanices looked and the way his arm worked indicates that he is going to become much better as time goes on. Presently he showed an easy working arm in a slightly higher than three quarters slot. His fastball was sitting between 82 and 84 touching 85mph. We have heard that his velocity has been even better this year and it is an easy thing to believe. He has a good downhill delivery and strides straight towards home plate with perfect balance from his knee lift to his follow-through. He showed 2 other good breaking pitches in his slider and curve. He also showed a change-up. The curve was effective in this outing at just 62-64 mph with a big round arc that was tough to hit. His slider has the most potential for the next level at 74-75 mph and good action. He showed a couple change-ups letting us know he has it and that he knows how to throw it. It was clocked at 73 mph and it was another pitch that showed good potential to be effective at the next level. Keep a close eye on this tall RHP, he could really blossom fast.
