Gavin Jenkins is a 2027 LHP/1B, OF with a 5-10 172 lb. frame from New Castle, IN, who attends Eastern Hancock. A medium frame and build with plenty of strength in the frame. Length throughout the build. Ran a 7.51 60-yard dash. A primary left-handed pitcher who threw from a mid-three-quarters arm slot with some crossfire action to it. He had a medium leg lift working downhill on-line for the most part. He maintained good balance throughout the whole delivery. The fastball worked up into the low-80s with some running life to it, working away from right-handed pitchers. He was able to show a healthy 1-7 shaped breaking ball that he could drop in for strikes and locate well. He flashed a changeup with good fade and drop to it in the low-80s, killing spin on it. He had good pitchability with the ability to command the zone and work the corners during his outing. Threw 3.0 innings with 2 hits and 6 strikeouts to his credit. A left-handed hitter with a wider, balanced base. He had higher-set hands and a high-back elbow. He had a medium-sized stride forward with a weight transfer that widened out his stance as he got through the zone. He worked on a level path with some juice the other way, creating some loft. He was able to stay inside it well. Showed a simple and smooth left-handed swing during his round of BP swings. He rotated hard in the upper half and was able to get extended at times. Added a double and home run in-game. The home run was well-struck to deep right-center. Also hammered a double to left-center. Worked the count well in-game and took quality at-bats. Produced an 87 mph exit velocity during PG Tech testing. Worked out as an outfielder with a one-hand gather, working pretty aggressively to it. Approached it well and showed some strength working through it. Threw 79 mph from the outfield. Also worked out at first base with some quickness to his actions. Feet moved quickly and showed a feel for the transfer as he made his feeds. Threw 80 mph across the infield. Excellent student.
