Daniel Higa is a 2008 SS/2B with a 5'8'', 165 lb. frame from Honolulu HI, who attends Saint Louis HS. Selected as a Top Prospect at this event. Higa has a wiry, lean, athletically proportioned body. He is bound to get stronger and more explosive as he gets older. Higa has fluid actions and good body control, which plays particularly well for him on the defensive side of the game, where he diplayed very good feel. He has soft hands, good feet, and a quick release. Higa is a smooth defensive player. He plays well on the move and is clearly confident in the field as he moves to the ball and makes strong, accurate throws. At the plate Higa is a good hitter from both sides of the plate. His left hand stroke is easy and fluid, starting with a relaxed set-up. His hands work well and some extra base power will develop. On the right side Higa is not as fluid but showed good bat speed. His hips work well and provide some pop. Higa has good feel for the game and D1 caliber abilities across the board.
