PG Grade: 7
Mathew Hall is a 2009 OF with a 5'6'', 130 lb. frame from Panama City Beach, FL who attends Arnold HS. He has a small framed young body with some lively strength. Hall is a speed player with a very quick first step. He ran the 60 in 7.03 but was 4.16 down to first base from the right side. Hall hits from a simple, balanced stance with a contact swing that works well for him. He is smooth and direct to the ball and makes consistent line drive contact to all fields and battles pitches best pitches. Hall hustles out of the box and clearly understands his abilities and strengths. In the outfield, Hall has sound fundamentals and a quick and smooth release and some carry on his throws. There looks to be reason why he couldn't play second base, where he would profile better. Hall is a leadoff type player who plays with energy and hustle and good skills. He is also a good student.
