2023 Northern California Workout Showcase (Saturday)
Jake Sonsini is a 2024 RHP/OF with a 6-0 180 lb. high waisted large athletic frame from Menlo Park, CA who attends Menlo High School. One of the better showings in the event. A primary pitcher with sound fundamental mechanics, easy operation and simple repeatable delivery. Sonsini works out of the stretch exclusively and what stood out was his ability to throw consistent strikes with all of his offerings. The 2-seam fastball showed life to the arm side and produced swing and misses. The 4-seam fastball had good ride getting hitters to chase high in the zone. The changeup was a weapon had excellent separation from the fastball. Curveball had excellent depth with 12/6 shape and the slider had good tilt and late bite. At the plate he sets up in a traditional balanced stance. Showed intent and the ability to square up the baseball consistently using a direct approach to the ball. Exhibited some pull side power but employed an all-fields approach in his BP round. Defensively in the outfield he made all the required plays and showed off his strong accurate arm. Excellent student.
