2023 Top Prospects

Aidan Goude  RHP - 2023 - Cypress, TX
Wharton County Junior College

An upside two-way talent that impressed in both workouts and game action. Athlete with some speed in the outfield as a 6.89 runner in the sixty and the arm strength to profile at all three spots defensively. Quick twitch swing at the plate with bat speed and the ability to impact the baseball. Connected for a loud double off the top of the fence in left centerfield in game. Fastball up to 89 on the mound and a slider with some biting action. Real athletic movements with a delivery that was fluid on the mound. Lots of intriguing tools to like here. Will be a good addition to a program next fall.

MJ Liyeos  RHP - 2023 - Naperville, IL
Pepperdine

An athletic right hander with a projectable pitching frame. Above average arm speed on the mound with a fastball sitting in the mid 80's and topping out at 87. Showed a clean arm action with a three quarter arm slot and found a consistent release point with all of his pitches. Best pitch was a slider with late depth that he located to both sides of the plate and missed bats with. Flashed a change up with arm side fade in the upper 70's. Three pitch mix and just beginning to tap into his potential on the mound.

Justin Lanier  OF - 2023 - Laredo, TX

The outfielder and left handed hitter collected four hits in six at-bats this weekend including a line drive triple to the fence down the right field line. Consistently got to the barrel in his round of BP as well. Ability to get on time in game really stood out. A 6.93 runner with a solid average outfield throwing arm and clean fundamentals defensively. A gamer type player.

Justin Patterson  RHP - 2023 - Aledo, TX

A primary right handed pitcher that also showed some upside with the bat this weekend. Repeatable athletic movements in the delivery with above average arm speed. A low 80's fastball that he filled the zone with and a big 11-5 shape breaking ball that he landed in the zone. Showed some well above average arm strength in defensive workouts and some raw ability in both the infield and outfield. Showcased some natural bat speed and got to the barrel in game with a three-for-three performance including a double. Intriguing tools and a potential two-way impact player.

Luke Barre  RHP - 2023 - Houston, TX

A physical outfielder that showed well in workouts and in game. A 7.17 runner in the sixty coming from a 6-3/205 frame and up to 85 from the outfield. A player who should profile well in either corner outfield spot at the next level. Creates some leverage in the swing, put on time and connected swings on the baseball including a line drive triple to the centerfield fence off a high fastball in game. Some playable present tools that he showed well in games this weekend.

Mason Rego  3B - 2023 - Castle Rock, CO

Showed some two-way ability as a corner infielder and right handed pitcher. Some strength in his swing that is connected to backside rotation, went gap to gap in BP with feel for getting to the barrel and driving the baseball. Made all the routine plays at third base with an above average throwing arm across the diamond. A four pitch-mix on the mound with a fastball in the low 80's, two distinct breaking balls and a change up. Present feel for spin and some notable pitchability.

An outfielder with polished footwork in the outfield getting too and through the baseball and an accurate throwing arm. An all fields approach at the plate with present bat to ball skills and a combination of strength and bat speed in the swing. Got on time and to the barrel collecting three hits in games this weekend.

A two-way player with impact tools on both sides of the baseball. Showed impressive command of a low 80's fastball, spotting it all around the zone and used a slurvy breaking ball to keep hitters off balance. Athlete on the mound with a clean arm action and room to grow into more velo. Fundamentals with footwork and arm strength that play in both the infield and outfield. As well as a quick pop with a strong arm from behind the plate. The strength and direct hand path to get to and extend through the baseball. Athletic gap to gap type of hitter.

Aric Hickman  1B - 2023 - Temple, TX

Hickman is a physical corner infielder with some pop in the bat and possible future run producing middle of the order bat. Strong hands and barrel control at the plate and sprayed line drives to all fields in BP. Showed the ability to be on time, recognize pitches and got to the barrel multiple times in game.

A versatile defensive player that showed the ability to catch as well as fit in both the infield and outfield. Handled the bat well in game with a three for three day that featured loud contact each plate appearance. Gamer type player that showed up well in games.

Struck out five in three innings on the mound in his outing. Threw both a 4-seam and 2-seam fastball up to 80 that he located well and showed a slider with some shorter biting action to it. Worked quick with an uptempo delivery on the mound and consistently challenged hitters.
