USA Prime Bats Come Alive, Win 13u WS

USA Prime Stuns DK Furia with Explosive 7-Run Inning to Capture 13U National Title

SANFORD, FL — July 9, 2025 — In a game that had all the makings of a national championship showdown, USA Prime National mounted a dramatic comeback to take down No. 2 ranked DK Furia National, 10-7, and claim the 13U crown Wednesday morning at Boombah Sports Complex in Sanford, Florida.

With first pitch at 10:15 a.m., this showdown between two of the top 10 teams in the country had intensity from the very start. DK Furia looked to be in complete control for the first half of the game. They struck early, plating two runs in the top of the 1st and then holding USA Prime hitless in the bottom frame. After USA Prime responded with a lone run in the 2nd, DK Furia kept their foot on the gas, scoring two more in the 4th and another pair in the top of the 5th to stretch their lead to a commanding 6-1.

Everything was leaning in DK Furia’s favor: they had more hits, fewer errors, and all the momentum.

However, USA Prime’s bats came alive in the bottom of the 5th, turning a five-run deficit into a two-run lead in a blink; seven runs on three singles, three doubles, and two walks. Zaylon Johnson and Amani Tuiasosopo both delivered clutch RBIs during the inning, while Noah Osterman, the heartbeat of the Prime offense all week, chipped in with a double and a run scored. Tuiasosopo finished 1-2 with a double, while Osterman went 2-3 on the day, continuing his hot pace at the plate—finishing hitting .750 across six games of the tournament.

Prime was not finished as they added two more runs in the 6th to pad their lead to 10-6 heading into the final inning.
DK Furia, showing the fight that’s made them the No. 2 team in the nation, mounted one last charge. Down to their final out, they strung together a single, a double, and another single to push a run across and bring the tying run to the plate. But with two runners on, a pop out to left field sealed the deal for USA Prime.

On the mound, USA Prime used a two-headed attack to get through the high-octane DK lineup. Townsend Boyd (2030, LA) tossed 3.2 innings, allowing 7 hits but no walks, while striking out 4. He worked in the 73–76 mph range and flashed a sharp 69 mph curveball. Brody Lerch (2030, FL) came in for 3.1 innings of relief, giving up 6 hits and one run while striking out one, helping close the door in the final innings.

DK Furia outhit USA Prime 13-9 and played flawless defense, but the 7-run 5th inning proved to be too much to overcome.

Offensively, they were led by Mark De Leon (2030, TX), who put on a show with a 4-for-4 performance that included a double and two runs scored. Five different DK Furia players drove in runs, including Raymundo Jimenez, Cordarral Phillips, Jancarlos Nunez, Derek Poueymirow, and Christian Choe.

Despite the loss, Poueymirow earned tournament “MV-Player” honors for his all-around excellence, while USA Prime’s two-way star Noah Osterman was named “MV-Pitcher.”

In a game that had it all—drama, momentum swings, and top-tier talent—USA Prime showed what makes champions: grit, timely hitting, and the refusal to back down.

Underclass Area Codes: Standout Arms

Joey Cohen
Article Image
Year in and year out when the best young talent from across the country is packed into one national-level event the arms tend to win the week. That feels especially true in today’s amateur game where velocity, pitch design and high-level training in general are being introduced earlier than ever, allowing young pitchers to develop impactful stuff at a faster rate than younger hitters can consistently catch up to it. The Underclass Area Code Games are no exception and this year there was no shortage of arms that made you stop and take notice. Narrowing it down to 10 was difficult, but I focused on the pitchers who either displayed starter-type traits, brought something genuinely different from a delivery standpoint whether it was slot, height, crossfire or deception or simply possessed an outlier element of stuff that separated them from the pack. These are the 10 arms that stood...

Steve Fiorindo

Pitchers George Ferguson, RHP, Abilene HS  Ferguson toed the slab for the Rangers squad in game one of the Codes, setting the tone early with some loud stuff.  Ferguson attacked hitters with a verty fastball up to 96 that played well up in the zone with up to 24 inches of induced vertical break.  He showed more than just a power arsenal, going to the changeup often, using the pitch to put away hitters.  Kills the spin to the 1600’s, regularly getting 13-15 inches of horizontal break.  The slider rounded out the arsenal, working 82/83.  Struck out four over his three innings of work, two on the fastball, two on the change.  2026 PG All American committed to Texas.  Quinn Fitzpatrick, RHP, Stratford HS  Another 2026 PG All American out of Texas, the LSU commit punched out three over his two innings of work, allowing just one hit. ...

Brotherly Love Inspires Carter Hadnot

Jim Salisbury
Article Image
PHILADELPHIA – Perfect Game has been a big part of Carter Hadnot’s life since he was 12. He participated in more than a dozen tournaments and showcases, including prestigious Select Festivals as a 13U and 14U player, as well as last summer’s PG All-Star Game for underclassmen in San Diego.   The PG event that Hadnot always wanted to be part of was the DICK’s All-American Classic. Now, that’s on his resume, too. He played in the 24th annual Classic earlier this week at Citizens Bank Park, home of the Philadelphia Phillies. “This means a lot to me,” he said during the event. “I always wanted to make it to Select Fest when I was younger. So, every time I get invited to an event it’s an honor and it’s fun. I don’t take it for granted. “This is definitely the one I always wanted to make it to. A lot of big names have...
