Super25 Mid-Atlantic TTW

Andrew Snyder

This year's PG Super 25 Mid-Atlantic Qualifier figures to showcase a multitude of young high school talent, a talent pool that will continue to impress as these players move on in their baseball careers. Among this qualifier are some of the best teams in the northeast region, including multiple Top 1000 players and one Top 500 player for the class of 2022. These are the teams to watch heading into the tournament, which begins today at 5:45 p.m.

Mid-Atlantic Red Sox
The Mid-Atlantic Red Sox come into the Mid-Atlantic Qualifier sporting two players on the PG Top 1000 for the class of 2022 in pitcher Sam Batis and outfielder Cian Sahler. Batis is a top 20 prospect in the state of Maryland, ranked as the third-best righthander in the State. Batis has been clocked with an upper-80s fastball with more room for improvement given his 6-foot-1 frame. An honorable mention for the Preseason Underclass All-American team, Sahler is another top 20 prospect in Maryland. In 104 perfect game at-bats Cian is hitting .289 with four triples, showcasing good foot-speed to go along with his bat. Nathan Bowman is another player to watch; he’s ranked second best out of shortstops in Maryland.

Keystone State Bombers
The Bombers enter the Qualifier with the top-ranked player among all competing teams. Trey Yesavage comes into Vineland labeled as a top 200 pitcher in the country. Yesavage brings a high-80s fastball complemented by a curveball-changeup mix, so expect to see an excellent performance on the mound sometime this weekend. Bomber outfielder Vincent Fattore is a top 10 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania for the class of 2022. Fattore recorded an OPS of .951 during in 43 PG plate appearances in 2018. Nikolas Rubendall is another member of an exceptional Bomber outfield, ranked as the No. 3 outfielder for the 2022 class in the state of Pennsylvania.

Tri-State Arsenal 14u, 2022 National
The Tri-State Arsenal dynasty brings the most ranked players in the tournament between the two competing teams, including 2022 shortstop Pablo Santos. Pablo is the No. 5 shortstop for his class in the baseball hot bed of New Jersey and is hitting .333 over 116 plate appearances with Perfect Game. 2022 catcher David McCann enters competition ranked as the best catcher in the state of Connecticut. McCann has been profiled as an excellent defensive backstop, sporting a sub 2.0-second pop time. Also competing for the Arsenal this weekend is Cole Frye, a 2022 righthanded pitcher and infielder. Frye is hitting over .370 in 131 plate appearances with Perfect Game with an OPS over 1.000.

Keystone Cobras
Keystone brings to the table more than one heralded prospect. 2022 righthander Will McCausland shined in last year’s Mid-Atlantic qualifier, tossing six innings of two-run ball, walking only one while striking out five. McCausland is uber-projectable, standing 5-foot-11 with a very thin frame. Colby Seelig is a 2021 outfielder and righthanded pitcher ranked as a top 50 prospect in the state of Pennsylvania. Seelig is a sturdy 5-foot-11, 200-pounds with strength from the right side of the plate.

Falcons Baseball Showcase 15u
The Falcons bring to the table one of the best overall hitters in the tournament. 2021 first baseman Tywone Malone fills out his 6-foot-4 frame, possessing exceptional power from the right side. Malone is hitting nearly .400 in his Perfect Game career, hitting three homers with 20 RBIs over 54 plate appearances. 2021 righthanded pitcher and outfieler Shane Turpin is another player to watch for the Falcons. Turpin possesses a 6-foot-2 frame with room to fill out and worked in the low-80s in 2018. Turpin has yet to allow a run at Perfect Game events, striking out 14 over 13 2/3 scoreless innings of work.
