10U Ohio Valley Regional Game Recaps

Game 1: Ohio Force: 7, Derby City Diamond Dawgs: 0

The Derby City Diamond Dawgs were unable to attend their games scheduled for Sunday and therefore they were forced to forfeit. Ohio Force was awarded a 7-0 win.

Game 2: Indiana Prospects: 8, Louisville Sting 0

The Indiana Prospects topped the Louisville Sting 8-0 behind a strong performance at the plate and on the mound from (Sam Reagan #19). Reagan was 2-2 with 2 singles and also threw 4 shutout innings with 3 strikeouts. The Sting were led by (Zach Vorbrink #5) and (Brenan Crider #00). Each of them had a single and went 1-2 on the day.

Game 3: SoKy Bulldogs: 8, Ironmen: 3

The SoKy Bulldogs pulled away with a 7 run 3^rd inning to top the Ironmen 8-3 Sunday morning. The Bulldogs offense was led by (Dane Isable #42) and (Braxton Garner #44). Both had doubles and displayed raw power to all fields. (Kaden Oliver #3) was stellar at the plate for the Ironmen. Oliver was 2-2 with 2 singles and an RBI.

Game 4: Owensboro Blue Sox: 4, Express Baseball: 3

The Owensboro Blue Sox beat Express Baseball 4-3 in walk-off fashion. In their last at bat (Braden Mundy #1) drove a single to right field to score (Max Dees #6) and (Luke Scales #2). Scales also showed good command on the mound as he threw 5 innings and gave up 4 hits. Express baseball was powered by (Aiden Carter #5) and (Brandon Anderson #4) who both had solid days at the plate.

Game 5: Sun Devils: 10, Owensboro Aces: 0

The game was tightly contested until a 7 run 4^th inning by the Sun Devils really opened up the game. (Justin Lauersdorf #13) and (Matthew Schaftlein #10) led the charge for the Sun Devils. Lauersdorf contributed a 3 RBI double in the 4^th and Schaftlein singled in the 1^st and 4^th to help add to their lead. (Jake Stuteville #4) had a very productive day at the plate for the Owensboro Aces. Stuteville provided 2 hits and saw a lot of pitches in both at bats. The Aces were not able to dial in on (Charlie Poindexter #2) who showed great control of all pitches and kept the Aces lineup off balance.

Game 6: Indiana Prospects: 7, Derby City Diamond Dawgs: 0

The Derby City Diamond Dawgs did no attend their scheduled games for Sunday and therefore the Indiana Prospects were awarded a 7-0 win.

Game 7: Sun Devils: 8, Ohio Force: 6

Both teams started off on fire at the plate with 4 runs in each half of the 1^st. Ohio Force grabbed an early lead with a 3 RBI triple from (Jacob McKnight #54). But, the Sun Devils stormed right back in the bottom half of the first with a walk, a HBP and 3 singles. (Jacob Kelling #15) was 2-3 on the day and (Grahame Halliburton #3) was 1-2 with a sac fly. The Sun Devils broke a 6-6 tie with two runs in the bottom of the 5^th to edge the Ohio Force.

Game 8: Express Baseball: 7, Ironmen: 7

Through 5 innings of baseball, neither team could pull away from the other as Express Baseball and Ironmen tied 7-7. (Aiden Carter #5) displayed power to all fields for the Express by going 2-3 with a single and a double. (Jaylen Turner #21) added to the Express’ early lead with a no doubt HR to left center in the bottom of the third. In the bottom of the 5^th the Ironmen produced a late rally that included 5 singles and a few heads plays on the bases to tie the game at 7.

Game 9: Owensboro Blue Sox: 3, Louisville Sting: 3

This game turned out to be a pitcher’s duel between (Everett Munsey #20) for the Owensboro Blue Sox and (Jason Bossett #99) for the Louisville Sting. Munsey totaled 5 strikeouts and only gave up 3 runs and Bossett piled up 4 K’s and also gave up 3 runs. The Sting took a 3-1 lead in the 3^rdbehind a key single from (Sean Beaty #43) who was 2-2 on the day. As the time limit was coming to an end in the 4^th (Justice Millay #13) stroked a 2 RBI double to bring the Blue Sox back and tie the game at 3-3.

Game 10: SoKy Bulldogs: 7, Owensboro Aces: 1

In a must win game for both clubs at that point in the tournament,  the SoKy Bulldogs edged the Owensboro Aces 7-1 to go 2-0 in pool play and move on to the playoffs. Through 4 strong innings (Austin Comer #13) showed command of all pitches and gave up only 1 run on two hits. The Bulldogs were very aggressive in the strike zone which led to (Dane Isable #42) and (Braxton Garner #44) each going 2-2 on the day with an RBI. (Owen Payne #22) provided a spark to the Owensboro aces in the bottom of the 3^rd by belting a HR to deep left.

Game 11: Indiana Prospects: 7, Owensboro Blue Sox: 2

**Semifinal

The Owensboro Blue Sox looked poised and determined to pull off the upset of the #1 seen Indiana Prospects. The Blue Sox opened up a 2-0 lead in the top half of the 2^nd led by a couple of walks and a double from (Jakob Wellman #00). But, (Dom Olivero #10) quickly put that to a stop by getting three ground outs to end the inning. Olivero was sensational on the mound, allowing only 1 hit through 4 innings. The Prospects offense was given a huge lift by (Griffin Wolf #7) who was 2-3 on the day. The Indiana Prospects went on to produce a 5 run 2^nd inning and win the game 7-2.

Game 12: SoKy Bulldogs: 5, Sun Devils: 5

**Unfinished Semifinal

In a very competitive semifinal game the SoKy Bulldogs and the Sun Devils battled it out until they were eventually stopped by some unfortunate weather.  (Justin Lauersdorf #13) attacked the strike zone and relied on his defense to make a couple great plays behind him. The Sun Devils opened up a 3 run lead in the top of the 4^th with timely hits from (Charlie Hale #12) and (Jadyn Crane #34). (Kobe Martin #99) and (Trevor McNaughton #4) each showed great control and ability to change speeds to keep hitters off balance throughout the game. Martin started the game and piled up 4 K’s through 3 innings and McNaughton relieved him and continued that theme. The Bulldogs were 1 out away from heading home, but as the time limit expired (Drew Wolfram #10) ripped a 2 out, 2 run double into the left center gap to tie the game and send it to extra innings. The game was eventually stopped by thunderstorms and ended in a 5-5 tie.

11U Ohio Valley Regional Game Recaps

Game 1: St. Louis Pirates: 5, Louisville Titans: 1

The St. Louis Pirates beat the Louisville Titans 5-1 behind strong day at the plate from (Boyle #19).  Boyle was 2-2 on the day with 1 RBI and 1 stolen base.  Crump led the way for the Titans going 1-2 on the day with a double and a run scored.

Game 2: Indiana Bulls (White): 5, Owensboro Bulls: 2

The Indiana Bulls topped the Owensboro Bulls in their first game of the day 5-2 behind very strong performance on the mound from (Brady Linkel #20). Linkel pounded the strike zone as he struck out 4 and didn’t allow a hit through 3 innings. (Joe Hall #24) had a productive day at the plate where he went 2-2 with a single and a double. The Bulls tried to put together a rally in the 4^th. It started with a single from (Finley Munsey #20) followed by three straight singles, but they could only manage to score 2 runs.

Game 3: Midland Apaches: 13, Southern Illinois Bullets: 0

The Midland Apaches grabbed an early 3-0 in the first and never looked back in their first pool play game. They add 8 in the 3^rd to really break the game open. (Ethan Weimer #27) was very dominant on the mound and showed tremendous accuracy. The Bullets were unable to get anything started with their bats, but (Korey Bunselmeyer #99) played well behind the plate and displayed great arm strength.

Game 4: FCA Armor: 12, Indiana Outlaws: 2

The FCA Armor’s bats came alive on Sunday against the Indiana Outlaws, pounding out 11 hits in route to a 12-2 win in 4 innings.  (#54) led the way for the Armor going 2-2 on the day including a towering 2-run HR in the first inning.  (#2) for the Outlaws finished the day 1-1 with 2 RBI and a BB.

Game 5: Indiana Bulls (Black): 7, Vipers: 0

Stellar pitching and a hot start at the plate propelled the Indiana Bulls past the Vipers. (Josh Pyne #10) was great at the plate and was the ideal leadoff hitter. Pyne saw a lot of pitches during his at bats and was 3-3 with two singles and a double. The Vipers put together three straight hits in first from (Chris Jackel #22), (Marshal Metten #13) and (Jared Bailey #14) but couldn’t get any runs on the board.

Game 6: RBI Tennessee Nationals: 5, St. Louis Pirates: 2

The Tennessee Nationals and St. Louis Pirates were in a very tight contest until the bottom of the 4^th when the Nationals plated 3 runs to take a 5-2 lead. The Nationals hitters showed great discipline at the plate and put together some great at bats.

Game 7: Midland Apaches: 5, Indiana Bulls: 2

In a matchup featuring two of the top programs in the Ohio Valley Region, The Midland Apaches prevailed over the Indiana Bulls 5-2.  Midland broke the game open with a 4 run 3^rd inning, fueled by a 2 run single by (#19).  (#9) led the way for the Bulls going 2-2 on the day with a double and a RBI.

Game 8: Louisville Titans: 5, Owensboro Bulls: 0

The Louisville Titans displayed a pitching staff that pounded the strike zone and defense that was very skilled and focused on fundamentals. The Owensboro Bulls were held to just 1 hit through 4 innings and were unable to score any runs. The Titans took advantage of 4 walks and added a couple of timely hits to win the game 5-0.

Game 9: Southern Illinois Bullets: 6, FCA Armor: 4

The FCA Armor held a lead throughout the game but the Bullets managed to score 5 runs in the bottom of the 5^th to take the lead and eventually win the game. They were able to capitalize on a few walks and defensive mistakes by the Armor. The pitching staff for FCA Armor, led by (Josh Castleman #54) pounded the strike zone and showed great velocity.

Game 10: Indiana Bulls Black: 4, Indiana Outlaws: 3

The Indiana Bulls Black held off a late inning rally by the Indiana Outlaws to pull out a 4-3 victory on Sunday afternoon.  The Bulls jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first, thanks to a 2 out RBI single by (#8).  (#19) had a strong day at the plate for the Bulls as well, going 1-1 with a double, a run scored, and a RBI sac fly.  The Outlaws threatened in the 4^th but fell short after (#2) lined out to deep RF to end the game.  (#20) showed well on the day for the Outlaws finishing the day 2-2 with 2 doubles and 2 RBI.

Game 11: RBI Tennessee Nationals: 8, Vipers: 1

The Tennessee Nationals cruised past the Vipers 8-1 with a great day at the plate. Their offense was powered by (Braxton Baird #22) who was 2-3 with two doubles and (Connor Jurek #31) who was 2-2 with two singles. The Vipers were kept off balance but (Thomas Ashton #25) was 1-1 with a double the only RBI.

Game 12: Midland Apaches: 6, Louisville Titans: 2

** Semifinal

The Midland Apaches pulled away from the Louisville Titans in the 11U semifinal game. The Titans were kept off balance at the plate and couldn’t put any hits together to provide run support for the pitching staff. (Reece Kapple #30) showed great range and a strong arm on defense. The Apaches’ hitters displayed good approaches throughout the game, which led to a 6-2 win over the Titans.

Game 13: RBI Tennessee Nationals: 7, Indiana Bulls (Black): 4

**Semifinal

The Tennessee Nationals jumped out to an early lead in the 1^st and never looked back from there. The Nationals offense, led by (Connor Jurek #31) and (Adam Quincy #16) piled together four straight hits in the first and put you 4 runs early. The Bulls were led by (Brody Whitaker #2) who stroked a triple in the 3^rd. The Nationals held off a rally by the Bulls to advance to the championship game.

Game 14: Midland Apaches: 2, RBI Tennessee Nationals: 0

**Unfinished Championship

Before a chain of severe weather caused the championship game to come to an abrupt stop it was shaping up to be a great contest. The Midland Apaches stuck first with 2 runs but both pitchers were commanding the strike zone. Through 2 complete the score was 2-0 Midland.

12u Ohio Valley Regional Game Recaps

Game 1: Ironmen: 10, Team Smash: 3

The Ironmen started off their weekend with a 10-3 win over Team Smash led by a strong pitching performance by (Zachary Tackett #2) who threw 2 innings and did not allow a hit. (Cooper Biven #14) powered the offense by going 2-3 with two doubles on the day. (Josh Gross #4) sparked the offense for the Ironmen with a double in the 4^th inning but it was not enough to overcome the deficit.

Game 2: Ohio Sharks: 4, Lyndon Lightning: 2

In their first game of pool play the Ohio Sharks edged the Lyndon Lightning 4-2 in a very close game. (AJ Cook #5) was 2-2 with a single, a double and the teams first RBI of the game. The Ohio Sharks plated 3 runs in the fist and that proved to be too much to overcome for the Lyndon Lightning.

Game 3: Vipers: 5, Diamond Boys: 4

The Vipers and Diamond Boys went to battle in a very close contest with the Vipers coming out on top 5-4 in the end. The Vipers offense was led by (JT Benson #26) who belted a solo HR to start off their half of the 1^st. Both pitchers showed good command of all pitches and a great ability to change speeds.

Game 4: OYO Bombers: 2, Ballhawgs Baseball: 2  

Both teams battled very hard and both pitching staffs threw extremely well. The pitchers showed complete command all the way up until the time limit expired.

Game 5: Greyhound Baseball Club: 19, Cincinnati Mud Dawgs: 1

In a very lop sided game the Greyhound Baseball Club cruised past the Cincinnati Mud Dawgs 19-1. The pitching staff for the Greyhound Baseball Club combined for a total of 4 strikeouts through 4 innings and only allowed 2 hits. (Ryan Basey #52) had a solid day at the plate by going 3-3 with two singles and an RBI double.

Game 6: The Diamond Dawgs: 2, Ohio Sharks: 0

The pitching staff for The Diamond Dawgs was totally dominant throughout the game. The staff combined for 8 strikeouts and threw a shutout. The Diamond Dawgs were led by (#11) and (#8). Each had a single in the 1^st to help push the Diamond Dawgs past the Ohio Sharks.

Game 7: OYO Bombers: 7, Diamond Boys: 1

The OYO Bombers took an early lead and never looked back. Their bats came alive and got a couple extra runs because of some heads up base running.

Game 8: Ballhawgs Baseball: 3, Ironmen Baseball Club: 0

Ballhawgs Baseball grabbed an early 1-0 lead in the 1^st inning and added 2 more in the 3^rd to beat Ironmen Baseball Club 3-0. The Ballhawgs displayed good approaches at the plate, especially (Mason Kelley #13) and (Bryce Willett #32). Each added a single and helped secure the win.

Game 9: Team Smash: 7, Cincinnati Mud Dawgs: 2

Team Smash started off with a great first inning and kept their lead with a strong pitching performance and great defense. (Jake Roberts #32) gave the Mud Dawgs a bit of a spark. He was 1-2 with a single in the 1^st. For Team Smash (Dawson Woodard #24) was 2-2 with a single and a double and led them to a solid win.

Game 10: Lyndon Lightning: 1, Diamond Dawgs: 0

In a very tightly contested pitchers duel the Lyndon Lightning were able to squeak across a run in the bottom of the 4^th on a single by (Eqan Crew #15). The Lightning’s pitcher, (Charlie Ely #8), was completely dominant. He had 10 strikeouts through 6 innings and only allowed 1 hit.

Game 11: Vipers: 10, Greyhound Baseball Club: 0

The Greyhound Baseball Club couldn’t get anything going on the offensive side of things. They were held to only 2 hits and scored no runs in the contest. The Vipers offense came alive early, started by (JT Benson #26) who led off the game with a double and he eventually scored. The Vipers went on to win the game 10-0.

Game 12: Diamond Dawgs: 0, Vipers: 0

**Unfinished Semifinal

Before the game was cancelled due to extreme weather conditions, the Diamond Dawgs were showing great discipline at the plate. They had already drawn 5 walks and added a single in there in the first inning. But, the Vipers were coming back in their half of the first when they were taken off the field because of the weather.

Game 13: OYO Bombers: 4, Ballhawgs Baseball: 1

**Semifinal

This semifinal game turned out to be quite and even matchup. The OYO Bombers, led by (Walker Stull #10) and (Jake Stadler #33) which each had a single in their first at bats. The pitching staffs for the Bombers were able to keep the Ballhawgs offense at bay and led their team to a 4-1 win.
