There are some players that establish their draft stock very early in their college careers. Those are players like Carlos Rodon that feel like they’ve been talked about as first rounders since they first stepped on a college field. Then, there are players we think we have a good handle on following the summer before their draft year, like players such as the recently profiled Max Pentecost. And, then there are the players who still leave us with some mystery like Southern Illinois righthander Sam Coonrod. A hurler with an often electric right arm, Coonrod offered glimpses of brilliance last summer, but will see a large percentage of his draft stock derived from how he performs this coming spring.
