CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – The Perfect Game Pre-Draft Showcase is one of PG’s longest running, dating to 1999 when young prospects such as Carl Crawford, Joel Hanrahan and Jeff Clement were in attendance. Now, years later, the Pre-Draft has its foundation firmly planted in the 21st century while it welcomes the next generation of future major-leaguers to eastern Iowa.

The 15th
annual PG Pre-Draft Showcase will be held at Perfect Game Field at Veterans Memorial Stadium on Monday, May 13, and for the first time the event will be live-streamed on perfectgame.org. This will provide scouts, college coaches and the prospects’ family members and friends that are unable to attend the showcase an avenue on which to watch online.

Skillshow will be producing video from the entire event – workouts and game action – and iHigh will live-stream the video through a link on Perfect Game’s website. PG Vice President of Player Personnel David Rawnsley will provide live on-air analysis and insight on all of the nearly 50 prospects that will be in attendance.

The PG Pre-Draft Showcase is designed to give top high school and junior college prospects a final opportunity to perform in front of the scouting community before June’s MLB First-Year Player Draft. The showcase is always held on a Monday so as not to interfere with weekend college games, thus providing scouting directors and cross-checkers an event that won’t conflict with any others on their schedule.

Highly regarded prospects from nine states and Puerto Rico will be in attendance. But it is the presence of three prospects from Venezuela and five others from Canada that make this year’s Pre-Draft Showcase a truly international event.

The two mostly highly ranked draft-eligible prospects in attendance happen to be a couple of left-handed pitchers from the Midwest. Jake Brentz, a left-hander/outfielder from Ballwin, Mo., has signed with Missouri and is ranked the No. 51 overall prospect in the draft; A.J. Puk, a left-hander/first baseman from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has signed with Florida and is ranked No. 71 on PG’s draft board. Those rankings project both players to be selected sometime in the first two rounds.

Brentz is ranked the No. 18 national prospect in the high school class of 2013. Puk, who played in the 2012 Perfect Game All-American Classic, is ranked No. 20.

Another 2012 PG All-American who will be on hand is Alabama right-hander Kevin Davis, an Auburn signee from Brewton. Davis is the No. 69-ranked national prospect in the class of 2013 and is projected to go anywhere from rounds 4 through 10 in the draft.

Texas right-hander Andrew Dunlap, a Rice signee from Houston who set an event record when he threw a 96 mph fastball at the PG Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase in February, will also pitch Monday. He is a converted catcher who is ranked 56th
nationally in the 2013 class, and who, like Davis, is projected as a rounds 4-10 type of guy.

2013 right-hander Casey Meisner from Cypress, Texas, is ranked 93rd
nationally and is yet another prospect projected to be taken in the first 10 rounds. Meisner is a Texas Tech recruit and will be joined at the showcase by fellow Red Raiders signee Bryce Welborn, a right-hander from The Woodlands, Texas.

The highest nationally ranked 2013 position players that will be on hand include: No. 75 Ronnie Healy, a catcher out of Jupiter, Fla. (Broward CC); No. 79 Ian Hagenmiller, a shortstop from West Palm Beach, Fla. (Palm Beach State); and No. 89 Stephen Alemais, a middle-infielder from New York City who attends Elev8 Sports Institute in Florida (Tulane). All three are projected as first-10-rounds selections heading into Monday's Pre-Draft Showcase.

2013 Canadian prospects Lachlan Fontaine from North Vancouver, B.C.; Malik Collymore from Mississauga, Ontario; and Daniel Pinero from Toronto, are all intriguing. Fontaine, a third baseman, is ranked 136th
nationally (both U.S. and Canada) and No. 2 in British Columbia (Central Arizona CC); Collymore, a shortstop, is No. 178 nationally and No. 3 in Ontario (Blinn College); and Pinero, also a shortstop, is No. 406 nationally and No. 5 in Ontario (Virginia).

Grady Emerson (‘26 TX) laces this ball to right for a walk off single. Clean lefty stroke. Looks the part both sides of the ball. Checks all the boxes. Will be scouted heavily this Spring. #PGHS #HookEm commit. #PGDraft pic.twitter.com/wXvdHdgqME — Perfect Game Texas (@Texas_PG) February 6, 2026 Grady Emerson (2026, Argyle, Texas) had a strong showing throughout the opening week of high school baseball out here in Texas. Works good at-bats and is always a tough out in general. Makes all the plays at short and just has the look of a future big leaguer. He does all the little things right. Bat to ball will play at a high level and there is still a lot more power to project on here. There is a reason why Emerson is one of, if not the most highly coveted high school prospect in the 2026 class and it’s easy to see why. Currently committed to Texas, but has the potential to...

BURLINGTON, IA - Perfect Game Softball Winter One Day Tournament, February 15, 2026. Twelve teams, split between the 16u and 18u divisions, participated in this event.  With two pool games, and then a move into single elimination bracket play,  some players used this tournament as  their last warm-up before kicking off their high school seasons, while others were tuning up for the busy Spring and Summer travel season. In the 16u division, it was the Iowa Aries 16u Ce Fire Red taking the championship, with Southeast Iowa Allstars 18u Gold Miller earning the crown in the 18u division. Below are write-ups from observations made during the day, as due to a software glitch, there were no stats available to complete a Top Performers list. 16U Division  Earning the MV-Pitcher Award, as selected by her coaches, was Aurora Widlund (2029 Altoona, IA) of tournament champion Iowa...

Just a couple of weeks into the 2026 season, several teams have already hit the ground running, namely Walters State, Florida Southwestern, Chipola, Johnson County, Florence-Darlington, and Pearl River. A little further down the rankings, we’ve seen some significant movement. The College of Southern Nevada surged up several spots after a strong 12-2 start, while Gaston has turned heads with an unblemished 14-0 record. We also welcome a few new additions in the 20s: Fresno City and Panola. Neither program debuted inside our top 50, but both have certainly earned their place in this week’s rankings. We’re looking forward to another exciting week of early spring baseball, as teams across the country continue to find their rhythm before conference play begins. Rk. School Record 1 Walters State (TN) 11-2 2 Florida Southwestern (FL) 11-3 3 McLennan (TX) 5-1 4 Chipola (FL)...

OHIO VALLEY REGION (IL, IN, KY, MI, OH) The Ohio Valley Region has a healthy amount of top-level talent, as it features five Perfect Game All-Americans in shortstop Ethan Bass, third baseman TJ McQuillan, two-way stand out Matt Ponatoski and right-handed pitchers Shawn Sullivan and Grayson Willoughby.  The 2027 class looks very strong as well, especially in Illinois. A couple of things are missing from the Ohio Valley All-Region team, though.  The first is the two best outfielders in the region, as 2027 Illinois outfielder Sebastian Wilson is attending IMG Academy in Florida and fellow 2027 outfielder Noah Goettke from Ohio is attending P27 Academy in South Carolina.  Also missing are any players from Michigan, which enjoyed a dominant run of top prospects in recent years largely behind the Lake Orchard St. Mary’s HS program.  2027 catcher Broder Katke (Brother...

Perfect Game/Player of the Week: Tyce Armstrong, IF, Baylor Opening Day always has a special feel with the sights, sounds and smells bringing back memories of days gone by. But no one that made their way to Magnolia Field at Baylor Ballpark could have imagined what they would witness in the Baylor Bears first game against New Mexico State. Enter 6-4/228, redshirt senior 1B Tyce Armstrong with his power stroke and flare for the dramatic. Transferring in after a successful career at UT Arlington, the Magnolia, TX native would etch his name in the record books with an incredible day at the plate. Armstrong would hit three grand slams in the game, becoming just the second player in NCAA history to accomplish this feat in a single game. His three home runs tied a program record, and his 12 RBIs set a new standard for the Bears. Beyond that, Armstrong matched the 50-year-old record previously...

MIDWEST REGION (KS, MO, OK, AR, NE, IA, WI, MN, SD, ND) The Midwest Region featured only two 2025 Perfect Game All-Americans in catcher Carson May and shortstop Keaton Neal, both from the Kansas City area, but if the team were to be re-selected today there might be three or four more players honored.  The theme of the Midwest Region this year has been the number of players who have improved significantly during the late summer and especially the fall, which bodes well for this spring. In addition, the 2027 class in the Midwest Region appears to be solid as well and will have many All-American worthy players. St. Thomas Aquinas HS of Kansas is the top ranked school from the Midwest Region, checking in at 38th overall in the Perfect Game Pre-Season High School Rankings.  Edmond Memorial HS of Oklahoma gives the region two teams as they start 47th nationally.
