At the moment, Trevor Williams is the definition of a safe college pitcher. His track record at Arizona State is exceptional, he’s proven to be durable, and scouts feel they know exactly what they are getting. The only caveat to this is that Williams could still be better than he already is. That’s because there is a consistent knock on the big right-hander and that’s that he doesn’t miss bats. And, this is not just a case of missing enough bats - the strikeout truly is a minimal part of his game. As a sophomore, he struck out just 59 batters in 109 2/3 innings of work. It hasn’t hurt his level of effectiveness over two stellar college seasons, but when you look at his raw arsenal it is a little surprising.
