Perfect Game USA and GameChanger Media Team up to Revolutionize Amateur Baseball Scouting

Partners debut iPad scouting software and live online game updates at high school showcase tournaments this month

NEW YORK (May 18, 2011)
-- Perfect Game USA, amateur baseball’s top producer of amateur showcase tournaments, announces today it has adopted award-winning mobile scorekeeping, scouting, and live update software created by GameChanger Media, Inc.

Using the GameChanger technology, Perfect Game will stream live pitch-by-pitch updates to the web for over 10,000 games annually, while tracking over 140 stats and 400 scouting metrics for every player. This revolutionizing of amateur scouting -- a process previously managed with paper and pencil -- makes the recruiting process more efficient for pro and college teams while ensuring visibility for every recruit.

The free GameChanger scorekeeping apps for iPhone, iPad and Android are designed for coaches and scorekeepers of amateur teams. During the game, a volunteer scorekeeper records all the action on the app’s touch-screen: tapping simple menus for balls, strikes and hits, and dragging and dropping defensive players and base-runners. As each play is recorded, the app beams live pitch-by-pitch updates to the Internet so fans can follow in real-time on web browsers or mobile phones. Over 15,000 amateur teams have used the GameChanger software since its 2010 launch.

As part of the deal with Perfect Game, new features have been designed for the GameChanger iPad app that will capture over 400 evaluative player notes, rating every aspect of the athlete’s potential including hitting, pitching, fielding, and running.

Our tournaments feature thousands of players that must be evaluated in a matter of days,” said Perfect Game President Jerry Ford. “Managing comprehensive scouting notes for each player on paper was tedious and time consuming. With GameChanger, it’s possible for our staff to capture and organize stats and scouting notes as the games happen. We’ll be more efficient, scouts will have immediate access to live game updates and fans can follow along from the bleachers or at home. But most importantly, each player will be given a better opportunity for maximum exposure.”

We’re looking to revolutionize amateur baseball scouting, which has long been an ‘offline’ paper and pencil process,” said GameChanger Media CEO Ted Sullivan. “By joining forces with Perfect Game, we’re helping make this process more efficient and therefore providing more opportunities to thousands of young players at the highest level of the amateur game.”

Perfect Game showcase tournaments start Memorial Day weekend.
