South Underclass Qualifier Scout Notes

Cole Marquardt (2029, Montgomery, Texas) left no doubt this weekend as he came home with Tournament MVP honors for his work with Banditos 2028 Black. Went 7-10 with a double, a home run, a pair of triples, and the walk off single in the championship game. Projectable left-handed swing with plenty of tools to dream on. Bat to ball was on point all weekend and he had plenty of chances to show off an advanced run tool. Plenty to dream on moving forward.

Callen Corley (2028, Houston, Texas) put together a stellar two-way performance for Houston Wildcatters Navy 2028. At the plate, he went 5-10 with a double, triple, and home run, driving in seven runs. Sinks into his lower half well and creates strong angles for leverage. Plenty of power upside remaining in that frame, to go along with the twitch already present. On the mound, Corley went four shutout innings, surrendering just one hit while striking out seven. His fastball sits in the upper 80s, getting up to 90. Strong feel for the breaker in the mid 70s. Moves free and easy down the mound and the ball jumps out of his high 3/4 slot.



Tyler Hiserote (2028, Pflugerville, Texas) was dynamic this weekend for Texas Twelve Capital City 2028 Trojans. Went 5-12 at the dish with three doubles, a home run, and seven runs batted in. Uber physical right-handed swing. Loose actions and a synced up process. Uses strength to his advantage as he pulverizes the pull-side. The upside was more than evident.

Gianluca "Luca" Gangeri (2030, Houston, Texas) put together yet another solid tournament for Texans Scout 2030. Reached base nine times on the weekend, including a 4-6 showing at the plate with two doubles. Plenty of length in the frame. Uses his levers to his advantage as he creates leverage working uphill. There is definitely some power upside there and his feel for the barrel at this stage is impressive.

Nathaniel Long (2029, Houston, Texas) had some serious flashes on the bump for Wildcatters National 2029. Pretty high level stuff for the class. Went three shutout innings, striking out five, surrendering just one hit and no walks. Commanded the zone at a high level with 75% strikes. Mid-80s heater up to 87. Really quality slider that he showed advanced feel for, using it on both sides of the plate. Physical frame with easy actions. The pitchability makes Long an extremely intriguing prospect.

Jake Pardue (2028, Austin, Texas) was an absolute hit machine for Lonestar Baseball Club - National - 2028. 6-14 at the plate with two doubles, driving in three runs. Really strong feel for the barrel, working gap to gap with authority. Strong lower half and more than enough bat speed to dream on some power upside in the not so distant future. Absolute spark plug out of the leadoff spot all weekend.

Devin Loane (2028, Austin, Texas) had a really solid tournament for Lodestar Baseball Club - National - 2028. 5-8 showing with a pair of triples and three driven in. Easy process at the plate, with very little wasted movement as he attacks the bottom of the zone with some consistency. Also showcased some serious defensive upside at catcher, with a quick release and good reads on blocks.

Valentin Ceballos (2028, New Braunfels, Texas) was as good as it gets in what was a quick two inning burst. He ended up going two perfect innings while striking out the side both times. First inning out he threw nine out of eleven pitches for strikes all to lefties and showed the full kitchen sink. Ceballos continues to get better every time out and is really starting to show the immense ceiling for what it could be. It’s four pitches, all for strikes and the stuff plays. Fastball worked 88-92 and played firm with late riding life. It comes out easy and can get located with ease. He showed a disgusting change at 79 with hard fading drop. He backdoored a curve to a lefty at 75 with healthy shape and true depth to it and throws the pitch with intent. On top of all this, Ceballos has started implementing a slider into his repertoire and it’s a good one at that. Slider hovered 81-82 with sharp 2-plane bite and tightness to it. It looked like a legit pitch, and he threw it often in his second inning out. The 6-2 righty is currently committed to Oklahoma. 

Landon Patterson (2028, Georgetown, Texas) showed a ton of intrigue off the bump going three shutout innings while striking out three batters. Patterson stands in at 6-foot-0 with ample projection remaining with plenty of room to grow with added strength. He sat 84-88 with his fastball while topping out at 89 with hard running life working East to West well. It’s low effort gas from an arm that works with easy repeatable mechanics. Patterson likes to attack the zone and is not afraid to pound the inner half. He went to a change often in the 79-81 range with fade and rolls out the hand easy while mimicking arm speed. Overall, Patterson can really pitch and pitch-ability stood out in this look. There is absolutely no reason for him to remain uncommitted as the projection is very real and the velo will continue to trend upwards.

Giovani Rodriguez (2029, Alton, Texas) was absolute nails in this look going four shutout frames while striking out nine batters. Rodriguez stands in at 6-foot-2 and still has plenty of projection remaining. The arm is quick and everything comes out easy from a low effort repeatable operation. He worked up to 91 with has fastball and settled in the 85-89 range with late riding life and that fastball surely does have a second gear to it. Curve mixed in at 70-77 with sharp late bite and varied in shape between 10-4 and 11-5. He landed it often and showed really good feel for it overall. He also mixed in a change in the 78-83 range. It’s three quality pitches with feel for strikes and should only get better as he is just barely scratching the surface right now. It would not be surprising to see a continued uptick in velo as Rodriguez continues to develop and he has plenty of time to do so.


Kasen Langerhans (2028, Round Rock, Texas) is really starting to come into his own and it really showed well all weekend. Langerhans, a high-end premium athlete manning short stop certainly looks the part out there. He moves well with footwork and lateral range and everything he does on the dirt he makes look easy. Always in the right spot and always on time, Langerhans has the baseball IQ to go with the overall athleticism it takes to stick at the premium position. In the box, he consistently works quality at-bats and the bat to ball has continued to play at a high level. A simple all fields approach with strong ability to really impact it to the pull-side gap has made Langerhans a premium bat at this level. He finished the week going 6-16 with three triples and more gap power is starting to show up. It’s a smooth lefty swing that gets into lower half well and generates a ton of bat speed with now impact. Langerhans is currently uncommitted but shouldn’t be for long. 

Jack Jenkins (2028, Georgetown, Texas) has picked up right where he left off after a loud Summer at the plate. He ended the week going 9-13 with four doubles while driving in eight runs and scoring nine runs. Altogether Jenkins was a force to be reckoned with in the box and one of the toughest outs on the weekend. Jenkins has plenty of pop but has really started to show real hitter traits as he can work the count and go all fields with authority. The bat to ball is starting to play at an extremely high level and everything he hit is hit hard with intent. It’s a smooth and powerful lefty swing with plenty of feel to lift and launch the ball but he does not sell out for the pull-side. He can go with the pitch the other way just as well as he can go to the pull-side. It’s easy power to all fields and something tells me Jenkins will be a name that everyone has on their radar as he continues to show out.


Seve Amador (2028, The Woodlands, Texas) once again showed well on both sides of the ball throughout the weekend. He picked up right where he left off after a strong finish to the Summer circuit. Amador finished the weekend going 5-9 that included a homer that got out on a line. The bat to ball has always seemed to play at a high level but now he is starting to get into power which makes him far more intriguing than before. Amador has a smooth lefty swing and does a really nice job getting into his lower half while keeping the weight back. Head stays still which allows him to stay on it and make consistently hard contact. The at-bats are polished paired with strong ability to make hard contact makes Amador a serious threat in the box. He also looked good out on the dirt manning shortstop and looking the part. Amador should be on everyone’s radar down the stretch here as the production continues to show up.

Chase Petro (2029, Spring, Texas) showed well throughout the weekend on both sides of the ball as he went 5-10 with three doubles. Petro is a really good athlete who can play all over the dirt and moves well. He sets up in the box from the left side with a balanced base and the swing works well to all fields. He can match multiple planes and covers the entire plate well with his path which is catered to all fields and making consistent hard contact. Swing has plenty of bat speed to go with it. Like the overall approach and ability to shorten up when needed never overswinging or selling out for the pull-side. He works good at-bats and tends to always be on the barrel. Petro is definitely a name to keep an eye on and one that should continue to rise up the ranks.

Robert Adam (2029, Houston, Texas) swung it well all weekend as he went 5-12 that included a double that nearly left the yard off a tough lefty. Adam stands in at 6-foot-3 and is as physical as it gets at this age. It’s a powerful swing and can be adjustable for what it is. He swings with absolute intent and when on it, hits the ball as hard as anyone. He showed strong pitch recognition and good ability to adjust to spin. The power is very real in this profile and it would not be surprising to see him launching balls out sometime soon as it certainly projects well.

Zach Johnson (2028, Overland Park, Kansas) really impressed throughout the weekend and finished going 5-8 that included a no-doubt homerun. Johnson might not be the biggest dude on the field but he certainly has the thump in his bat to make you look twice. It’s a short and quick lefty swing with plenty of bat speed. He stays connected well throughout the process and really gets into it which allows him to generate a ton of power with good feel to lift. Ball comes off his barrel sizzling hot and the bat to ball plays at a high level. Liked the overall swing paired with his swing decisions and ability to make hard contact. Overall, Johnson is a good athlete who can really hit all the while looking the part out at short. He will definitely be a name to track over the coming years.

Maddox Larkins (2029, Montgomery, Texas) was solid throughout the weekend and opened up the tournament with a strong 3-hit game that included a pair of extra base-hits. Larkins sets up in the box with a balanced base and the swing works well to all fields with more power showing up to the pull-side. The swing is short and compact to the ball which allows bat to ball to play at a high level. The impact comes off easy and the path can match multiple planes within the zone. Overall, liked the swing and the ability to really impact it to the pull-side.

Leyland Henry (2030, Houston, Texas) was on a tear this weekend, leaving the year multiple times and taking home the hardware. The 6-foot-2 right-handed hitter starts from a balanced base into a controlled leg lift with his hands set high. Does a good job getting extended out front with some natural lift to the pull side. Drove in runs in bunches, getting seven in the tournament. On Monday, he capped off the weekend by launching a no-doubt home run into the parking lot to add to his line for the week. He put together really productive at-bats, hitting .375 this weekend, still collecting four walks as well. Ranked 53rd in the class, showing off the raw power in his bat.

Brayden Worthen (2031, Tomball, Texas) put on a hit parade this weekend, using all parts of the field, staying in his lower half well, letting the hands stay short to the ball. Brayden started the weekend hot with three extra-base hits, including two triples and a double. The 5-foot-9, 145-pound left-handed hitter starts in a balanced stance with a slight bend at the waist. His barrel works level through the zone with a direct path to the ball, driving it gap to gap to showcase his supreme athleticism. He finished the week as a .500 hitter, getting around the bases without issue and scoring six times in the event. Helped his squad to the ship.

Raylen Hunter (2030, Cypress, Texas) continued to build upon his outstanding summer, showing off some more added strength driving the ball around the yard. The 5-foot-7, 140-pound left-handed stick displayed polished swing decisions, not expanding the zone often. His swing is fairly quiet with a controlled weight transfer and fluid hands that are lightning quick on the inner half of the plate. On day one, he finished a home run shy of the cycle, driving the ball gap to gap and pushing the pace around the bases. Plays like his hair is on fire, looking to make an impact in any way he can. Ranked 22nd in his class with a tool shed to work with.

Landon Teller (2028, Pflugerville, Texas), a physical 6-foot-3, 170-pound right-handed hitter, put on a display with the stick, driving in nine runs over his five-game stretch. His stance is fairly upright with his hands set high. Controlled stride out into contact has a slight uphill path, driving the ball all over the yard. He finished the tournament hitting .500 with impressive bat-to-ball skills and walked five times.

Gabe Hernandez (2028, Manor, Texas) was a consistent barrel during this tournament, attacking the ball early in counts and making pitches pay for mistakes. The 6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed hitter has good rhythm in the box and moves easily, generating solid bat speed. His long levers, which he controls well, drive the ball out front. Works into a leg lift, getting into his back hip with a coil. In the semifinal, he unloaded on a grand slam to help his squad get to the 'ship. Gabe finished the tournament hitting .500 and collecting five free passes.

Caleb Klein (2029, Leander, Texas) put together some really quality at-bats this week and had a few loud swings. The 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-handed stick creates solid separation and gets into a strong launch position. Has an open stance, gets his hands back, and stays controlled in his leg lift. Caleb drove in six runs over the course of his four games, minimizing his swing-and-misses and consistently getting on base. Did some damage getting the barrel out front, hammering it to the pull side. Quick hands turn on the inside pitch easily. Played well on the dirt, smooth actions, with sure hands holding down third base.

Joshua Digulio (2027, Mont Belvieu, Texas) was a breakout performer for Texas Brigade 2027 - Gafford. Went 10-18 with a pair of doubles and a home run, while plating nine runs. Also showed some serious flashes defensively behind the plate. Physical frame with plenty of bat speed. Flatter bat path with a pull-side approach, geared towards backspinning with authority. Athletic backstop with tons of offensive upside. Dylan Buck (2027, Friendswood, Texas) put on a show for Up Top Prospects. Drove in 11 runs while going 5-11 with a pair of triples and a multi home run game on Saturday. Loose actions with a strong lower half. Adjusts well and generates plenty of torque as he works uphill. Perfect Game Des Moines Elite Scouting Showcase 2026 Indianola. IA Ashley Mears What started off a perfect weather weekend, unfortunately was cut short due to thunderstorms mid-morning on Sunday. In the 18u Division, the Iowa Gold Prospects and the Midwest Speed National Kotzmacher were undefeated. In the 16U Division, 515 Fastpitch Twogood and Iowa Premier Gold- Brower. Ryan Jones (2027, Tinley Park, IL) was one of the most productive hitters of the weekend, collecting six hits, including three doubles and a home run, while driving in nine runs. The left-handed hitter consistently got the barrel out front and created hard contact throughout the event. Working from an open setup with high hands, he features a compact swing that allows him to get to the ball quickly. His hand speed stood out and helped him drive the baseball to multiple parts of the field. Jones showed a strong understanding of pitches he could handle and rarely missed opportunities to do damage. The swing remains efficient through the zone and produces carry off the barrel. His combination of consistent contact and extra-base impact made him a key offensive contributor all weekend.
