Blalock's Consistency Shines in Hoover

Blalock’s Consistency Continues to Shine at Hoover Invitational
While many players his age are still learning how to handle the spotlight, Tristan Blalock has already become accustomed to it.

The Madison, Alabama Native entered the 2026 Perfect Game Hoover Invitational as one of the most highly regarded players in the country, carrying a national ranking of No. 23 overall in the 2029 class and the distinction of being Alabama’s top ranked player. Yet despite the attention and high approval, Blalock’s approach remains remarkably simple. 



“Just 100% effort,” Blalock said when asked about his defensive mindset. “Going out there every single time and giving it my all, do or die, no matter what the play is.”

That mentality was on display Saturday as Blalock helped lead East Coast Sox Prime to a 14-0 victory over EBC 15U-Bell. Although the talented right-hander did not take the mound, he contributed offensively collecting a hit, scoring twice, driving in a run, and swiping a base while continuing to show the athleticism that has made him one of the most complete prospects in the class. 

When asked about the key to the team’s success, Blalock pointed to a simple offensive approach.  

“I went out there and just hit the ball. We kind of just didn’t try to do too much,” he said. “We just went out there, poked some singles, poked some doubles through the gap, and came out with the win.”

Blalock is best known nationally for his work on the mound. The 6-foot-4 right-hander has drawn attention from scouts across the country with a fastball that has reached 90 mph and a projectable frame that suggests there is still more velocity to come. Perfect Game’s most recent game report from Saturday on @PG_DeepSouth described him as having “huge power upside and one of the best arms in the ’29 class.” 

His journey with Perfect Game began years ago, with reports dating back to his time in the 10U division, and his development has continued steadily ever since. Now entering another busy summer that includes invitations to both the 2026 PG Sophomore National Showcase and the 2026 PG 15U National Elite Championship, Blalock finds himself among the most recognized players in his class. 

Despite his success, Blalock remains focused on the details of improvement rather than rankings.
“Probably just being consistent with pitching and really getting my fastball consistent no matter where it is,” he said. “Landing it in all three spots of the zone – outside, inside, middle.”

His focus extends beyond pitching as well. While pitching consistently remains a priority, he is equally invested in improving other areas of his game. “Really working on my first step back in the outfield and for hitting just staying right up the middle and just smashing the ball,” Blalock said. It’s a mindset centered around constant improvement, one that has helped him emerge as one of the top prospects in the Southeast. 

While his pitching ability often attracts the headlines, Saturday’s performance served as another reminder of the all-around skill set he brings to the field. 

The nation’s No. 23-ranked player remains focused on the same mindset that has carried him this far: showing up every day, giving 100% effort, and finding ways to improve.

Fifty-Four teams, competing across three divisions in the 14u - 18u age classifications opened up our Fall schedule playing in a five game showcase style format.
