BEAST 2027 Win 16u Dynamic College Series

Orlando, FL – Under the intense Sunday sun at UCF’s John Euliano Park, the BEAST 2027 National squad left no doubt about who reigned supreme in the 16U PG/Dynamic College Series championship. Behind a dominant combination of relentless hitting, strong pitching, and balanced contributions throughout the lineup, BEAST rolled past Canes Florida Scout, 10-3, to secure the title.

Canes Florida Scout came out swinging, plating two runs in the bottom of the first inning to claim early momentum. But, BEAST would respond quickly. In the top of the second, they went off for four runs, quickly flipping the game on its head and setting the tone for the rest of the contest.

That 4-2 lead held steady until the fifth inning, when BEAST again struck hard. A three-run frame widened the gap to 7-2 and exposed Canes Florida’s thinning bullpen. From that point forward, BEAST kept applying pressure, adding three more runs and outpacing the Canes 13 hits to just 3.

On the mound, Memphis Lanier (2027, NY) set the tone with a composed, efficient outing. Lanier allowed just two hits and no walks over 5.2 innings, striking out four and working consistently in the 74-77 mph range. His 67-mph curveball kept hitters off-balance, and his poise helped shut the door after Canes’ hot start.

Michael Diaz (2027, NY) took over in the sixth and finished the job with 1.1 solid innings, surrendering only one hit while striking out three. Diaz mixed his fastball (74-76 mph) with a slow-breaking 50-mph curve that stymied opposing hitters.
Offensively, the BEAST lineup was relentless and deep. Memphis Lanier helped his own cause by going 2-for-4 with two RBIs, continuing a strong tournament showing that saw him hit .400 across six games. Michael Diaz also had a big day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Joseph Maxwell (2027, NY) added a double and scored a run. Maxwell, ranked as a Top 500 player nationally by Perfect Game, finished the tournament hitting an impressive .563.

The offensive output was evenly spread across the roster, as seven different BEAST players recorded at least one RBI: Lanier (2), Diaz (2), Thomas Gargiulo (1), Maxwell (1), Joshua Gomez (1), Julian Lange (1), and Hunter Kass (1). That kind of team-wide production proved too much for the Canes to contain.

For Canes Florida Scout, Ryder Ritch (2027, GA) was a lone bright spot at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and wrapping up the event hitting .500 over six games. Elijah Welsh (2027, FL) added a hit, but the lineup struggled to solve BEAST’s pitching duo.

Starting pitcher Charles Bello (2027, FL) gave a gritty effort for the Canes, working 4.1 innings and allowing seven hits and three walks while striking out one. He sat in the 73-79 mph range and mixed in a 52-mph curveball, but BEAST’s offense proved too deep and too disciplined.

In the end, BEAST 2027 National’s firepower proved the difference, as they closed out a dominant tournament run in convincing fashion to hoist the 16U championship trophy.

Hortenbury was probably one of my personal favorites, as this was my first time seeing it in action. It’s an athletic two-way profile that has a chance to do both at the next level. But what stood out to me, was his potential on the mound. The left-handed pitcher moves very well and is comfortable there. Has the mound presence Supplemented with a free-flowing and loose arm from a higher ¾ slot, he pounded the zone in his lone appearance. He went...

Following a dominant week at the 17u PG East World Series, No. 34 ranked 643 DP Cougars 17u capped off an impressive tournament run by defeating No. 2 ranked East Cobb Astros 17u, 3-2, in the championship game to claim the title. The Cougars earned the tournament's No. 1 overall seed after outscoring opponents by an absurd 59-6 throughout the week before completing their championship run with a hard-fought victory in the finale. “Always feels great to finish the year playing your best ball, especially when going up against strong competition,” 643 Head Coach Danny Pralgo said. “We did so many of the little things right: on the mound with location, clean on defense, bunting, 2 strike approach leading to long at bats, getting hit-by-pitches, and we had so many good outs offensively that led to moving a runner or scoring a runner. And when those things all come together in...

A tightly contested battle between Canes Florida 2029 and Florida Flames 16u capped the 16U Florida Elite Championship, with the Canes earning a 6-5 walk-off win on Monday at JetBlue Park Stadium. “It means a lot to this team specifically because this is their first win as a group,” Canes head coach Alec Bettinger said. “We’ve come up short a couple times, so seeing one go through the hoop here is really nice for the boys.” The Canes defense came out hot, led by Cannon Tyler who started on the mound for the Canes. Tyler set the tone from the start, opening the game with a strikeout. He allowed no hits while striking out three over five innings. His fastball sat 77-82 mph. Another strikeout and a pickoff at second base ended the inning. Race McDaniel started on the mound for the Flames. The left-hander pitched six innings, striking out seven batters. The...
