College Top 25: April 21

We were just treated to another week of marquee matchups, series domination and amazing individual performances. Some clubs continue to prove their elite status, while others have begun to fall back to the pack, and some have emerged from the shadows to give notice that they may be a factor down the stretch.

The No. 1 Texas Longhorns (33-5) were one of a select few to escape last week unscathed as they swept now No. 12 Auburn (27-13) in Austin and have taken control of the SEC with a 3-game lead. No. 2 Clemson (35-7) has ascended to the top of the ACC standings after winning their series against Louisville. The LSU Tigers (34-7) jump back into the Top-5 at No. 3 after their (3-1) week and series win against now No. 25 Alabama (31-10). Oregon State (30-7) was perfect last week and are up to No. 4 as they continue to make their way to an at-large bid as the nation’s only independent. While the grind of the SEC is becoming more evident as No. 5 Georgia (33-9), No. 6 Arkansas (34-7) and No. 7 Tennessee (33-7) all drop in the poll after losing their weekend series’ but remain in the Top-10 due to their body of work.

As for our big movers this week, No. 10 UNC (31-9) continues their climb up the poll after winning a hard fought series at Virginia Tech and are only a game and a half out of first in the ACC. No. 13 Oregon (27-11) won their biggest weekend of the year as they took down now No. 17 UCLA (29-10) and are within reach of the Big Ten lead. No. 14 Coastal Carolina (30-10) and No. 15 Arizona (28-11) also had solid weeks and make nice jumps into the Top-15. We also have two new entrants this week as No. 19 Vanderbilt (30-10) had a flawless week and swept the Bulldogs. Meanwhile, Dallas Baptist (28-11) reappears at No. 20 riding their offensive hot-streak and have caught No. 24 Western Kentucky (33-7) for the lead in the Conference USA standings.
